Wally,

You have scolded us at ASA (and rightly so) for using uncharitable
words at Creationists. But can't you see the lack of charity here? Hoyle
was a man with some strengths and many weaknesses, just like you and
me both.

It is fair to hope that he is wrong, and better to cite evidence that he is
wrong if there is any. This claim is certainly a lot more likely than
his continuous creation ex nihilo (aka, the steady state universe).
His character and his checkered history have nothing to do with what
is true or false. There even are times when people we don't want to hear
are telling us the truth. Truth must always be decided on its own merit.
