                                GENESIS 2

    >18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I
    >will make him an help meet for him.
    >19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field,

Hi Walt. Gen 1 is, in fact, a different story than Gen 2. The Hebrew
for God, beginning in Gen 2:4, is different and more personal than Gen 1.

Gen 1 is creation of the universe/earth.
Gen 2 tells of the garden of Eden only. I've seen it claimed that you
can read the Hebrew as "God had created the beasts in the past."
Also, the garden of Eden was a miraculous place (Adam being formed
from dust, Eve from a rib, tree of knowledge of good and evil,
tree of life, God bringing the beasts of the field and the birds
of the sky to Adam for naming, uh, lack of self-consciousness).
If God wanted to specially create some beasts and birds, who am
            I to question?

    Jim
