Some of the statements about physics attributed to Kelvin are:

    Of Physics —

"In science there is only physics; all the rest is stamp
    collecting."

"There is nothing new to be discovered in physics now, All that
remains is more and more precise measurement."

"X-rays will prove to be a hoax."

"I accept no theory of gravitation. Present science has no right
to attempt to explain gravitation. We know nothing about it. We simply know
    NOTHING about it."

I wonder if these things are true or fokelore.

In any consistent theory, there must exist true but not provable statements. (Godel's Theorem)
