At first I thought that this was a joke, but you've convinced me:
"It's in a hard-bound book." Of course! Can't trust these paperbacks, but
a hard-bound book, that's different. Oops, better toss out my soft-covered
Bible, then.
And, if I had any further doubt, you state convincingly, "It is
dedicated to Dr. Ulric B

Really, this is the sort of thing I would expect to hear on Art
Bell's talk show.
Art, I hope you'll take this in the spirit in which it was intended.
On a more serious note, what bothers me is that this sort of things
is "grasping at straws," accepting something that looks like we think a
dinosaur may have looked at face value (no pun intended).
This weekend, a "free seminar on the creation-evolution conflict" is
being held in Winnipeg at the Berean Baptist Church. Guest speaker is Kent
Hovind who, according to the Winnipeg Free Press, hails from Pensacola, FL.
If I didn't live 120 km from Winnipeg and the roads were better (we are
having some freezing rain), I'd be tempted to go and hear what the man has
to say. I just hope that none of my students show up.
