shut down all nuclear power plants. The Government was trying to find
energy sources so that their people wouldn't freeze in the dark when the
nukes were shut down. That is what drove the testing of Gold's ideas on
methane outgassing."
I don't want to get too far off the ASA main thrust, nor do I want
to start a debate on the merits of nuclear power, but it is worth noting
that the Swedes are still planning to shut down their nuclear power plants,
even though the plants are being operated safely and even though they have
to alternatives other than fossil fuels. Wind and solar won't cut it.
Germany may well be next now that the Greens have joined Schroeder's
cabinet.
