Greetings:

Last evening saw the first of a three evening lecture series at
Harvard's Memorial Church on the theme "The Conflicting World Views of
Sigmund Freud and C. S. Lewis. The lecturer was ASA member Armand
Nicoli, Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical
School and the Massachusetts General Hospital. His first talk was "The
Scientific Method and the Moral Law: Is their an Intelligence beyond the
universe? Armond drew heavily on Lewis' turn from atheism to
Christianity and the many parallels in the early thinking of both men.
ASA member Francis Collins was the respondent. After the superb talk
to an SRO crowd the two faced questions from the audience which was a
mixture of Christians and non-christians. Evangelical ABC Medical News
Editor Tim Johnson was the moderator.

The questions were mainly from skeptics of Christianity. The two men
did an excellent job in responding to everything from the nature of the
text of Gen 1/2 to
the origin of evil.

This evening's topic is "Sex, Love and Joy: Contrasting Perspectives: Is
the purpose of life the pursuit of pleasure?" Wednesday's title is "The
Problem of Pain and the Painful Riddle of Death: Is suffering and death
our only destiny?
The respondent is Dr. C. Everett Koop.

It is good to see these men on the firing line for Christ.
