Interesting. That might, indeed, be a possible hypothesis. But not the
only possible assumption, of course. I suspect that you (and I if it
happened to me) would consider other possibilities, and that's all I
meant by the illustration.

Interestingly enough, a few months after I had become a Christian, I went
through a period of self-analysis along this line. Had I been conned? Was
it "real?" This process continued for several weeks; it terminated when
the Lord (may I use that term?) provided me with the support I needed.
