Of course, the way we happen to PREFER things has nothing at all to do
with the way things really are. And I don't think God has made it
possible to
know him through either the natural sciences or human reasoning. I do,
however, hold that He has made it possible to know Him, by making contact
with each of us individually when we are "ready" to allow that contact.
As a Christian, I've had that contact; it is markedly different from
other Christians I have talked to. In any group of Christians, as a
matter of fact, one may apprehend a wide variety of contacts.
Occasionally, one may encounter one who claims "through reason or through
the sciences," but this is rare in my experience. The contact appears to
be transcendent. Seldom hallucinatory, BTW.
