Geology Today, from last September/October (v. 13, no. 7, if I remember
correctly) [just arrived in our library], has articles relevant to several
topics frequently on the list. One is on Neanderthals, especially the late
ones near Gibraltar, and discusses their culture a bit; another discusses
problems of radiometric dating, with detailed explanations mostly aimed at
general readers, and the third article is a book review of a couple of
books seeking geological explanations for Biblical events, especially the
destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. The book review does not take a
particularly high view of Scriptural accuracy, but it does accept the
possibility that there is some echo of historical events. There's even
metion of someone on TV endorsing a Mediterranean basin flood as what Noah
encountered.
