I have found few (almost 0) articulate defenders of YEC positions to
appear here -- or on the RELIGIOUS ISSUES forum on Compuserve where I've
served as a sysop for the past two years. YEC people do appear, of
course, and they are almost always ignorant of the issues and simply
parrot from my friend Dr. Gish (yes -- he is my friend, though we differ
on the YEC issue) until they disappear in disgrace.
My friend Glenn Morton knows more about coal beds than I, so I'll not
dialog with you on that one beyond this one point. The "there is too much
volume of coal" argument seems pretty strong to me as a refutation of the
YEC position, but I'm sure there must be a defense against it somewhere
-- I've asked the ICR people about it several times without a response.
The biggest problem I've had with YECers (on Compuserve, particularly) is
that either they don't know much of anything except what they've read in
ICR publications or they cannot stand the type of questions Compuserve
members throw at them (which are not always terribly polite). Questions
here tend (I think) to be of a higher quality, so I do hope you'll stick
around for awhile and give us your "best shot."
