I had the same question. This discussion is taking an interesting or
disturbing turn. We start off with an attempt to reconcile the Genesis
account with the geological record and when we find some discrepancies,
invoke some other phenomenon and lose sight of the event in Genesis that
we wanted to square with the geological record in the first place!
