This story has circulated before. I first heard it a few years ago
on a PTL-like TV program. Of course there were no calculations of any
kind, nor an "expert" to discuss the issue in any detail. I don't remember
if any names were mentioned. I think the basis for the story was a little
different from what you have- I seem to remember that astronomers were
trying to correlate ancient astronomical records with computer models and
where the planets and sun were then currently located, or something like
that.
