Paul Arveson's comments on the misuse of Thomas Kuhn's insights about the
role of paradigms in science find support in the excellent book by Del
Ratzsch, *The Battle of Beginnings*, pp. 115-119 and 122-124. For
example, in relating Kuhn's conception of the role of paradigms in
science, Ratzsch observes that "even if two scientists in different
paradigms could all share the same observational data, they might be
unable to agree on the proper explanation or interpretation of that data"
(p. 117).

Ratzsch's book is well worth reading. A review of it appears in PSCF
_48_, Sept. 1996, pp. 188-191.

Careful reading of Ratzsch might help all of us understand what we are
trying to do in our ongoing debate about intelligent design.
