Gene requested:

1) A timeline of the YEC movement (rough). I remember it had its genesis
in the 1920s or 30s did it not, with roots in 7th Day Adventism?

The most authoritative source is Ron Numbers' book, The Creationists. It is a fairly unbiased and comprehensive coverage of the recent history. It's correct that George MacReady Price, the founder of modern young-earth creationism, was a 7th Day Adventist, and Adventists still follow this general approach. They get their primary authority, of course, from the books of Ellen G. White. However, it was Henry Morris' books, the Genesis Flood and others, that got the modern YEC movement going in the 1960's. He is a Southern Baptist.
