This touches on a sensitive area for me.

I have come become convinced that Jesus and the rest of the scriptures
encourages us in large part to think of ourselves collectively (body,
church, community, a city on a hill, a chosen people) rather than
individually.

It seems to me that we read the bible and see salvation and Jesus
individualistically more because of the biases an individualistic
culture has built into us.
