Joshua's Long Day

I've been scanning this thread and don't recall if anyone brought up the
point that another plausible explanation of Joshua's "stopping" the sun
would be that God answered his prayer by using a cloud cover that "stopped"
the sun from shining.

Supporting evidence for this interpretation is available in the account,
which describes more of the enemy being killed by hailstones than by
Joshua's army, gives a detailed account of the movement of Joshua's men in
the preceeding day that would indicate they were tired and thirsty by the
time of the battle and would not want its duration extended. There are several other supporting points I recall.

This argument is somewhat similar to that made by Hugh Ross that the Genesis
Creation story is written from the point of view of someone on the surface
of the earth and that it was the changing atmospheric conditions from opaque
to translucent to transparent over time that is described.
